As a Living History (or historical re-enactment) group we attempt to portray soldiers and civilians of the American Civil War period to the best of our abilities. Members dress in clothing and use equipment which is carefully copied from originals, and is constructed using the same materials. We carry reproduction weapons, camp in period issue tents and practice drill using the manuals of the period.

We meet regularly for training sessions, battle re-enactments and living history events at the Ulster American Folk Park and also travel to events elsewhere.

The 'Minstrel Boys' is a 'mess' name, a 'mess' being a small group of soldiers who would camp and cook together. These were your comrades who made the dangers of life on campaign just a little less unbearable.
